What if there is a disagreement about an audit?
The State Auditor's Office (SAO) is committed to effective two-way communication with audit clients during the audit process. We promptly inform local governments and state agencies if any significant issues are identified during an audit.
Concerns or disagreements about preliminary audit results can typically be resolved during the audit by providing additional documentation or other clarifying information.
If there is continued disagreement, we offer multiple opportunities to appeal before the audit is finalized.
