Here in Washington, local leaders go by many names – Councilmember, Commissioner, Mayor and many more. Regardless of your title or the size of your local government, leadership plays a key role in ensuring your government’s cybersecurity success. Fortunately, our Center for Government Innovation has updated its cybersecurity guide for Washington’s leaders.
Our resource, “Leading the way: Cybersecurity considerations for local government leadership (PDF),” can help clarify how leaders can invest their government’s time and resources to build a culture of cyber safety and shared responsibility. The guide also provides links to additional cybersecurity resources from the Center for Government Innovation, like its guide to jump-starting your cybersecurity program (PDF) through effective policymaking.
“Leading the way” covers topics like cyber considerations during entity risk assessments, developing and maintaining cybersecurity policies, and adequately resourcing these cyber efforts with staff time as well as funding.
Download "Leading the way" (PDF) today and discover how your local officials can lead their governments toward a better, safer cybersecurity stance.
