State Auditor Pat McCarthy celebrates International Women's Day

International Woman’s Day is a chance for all of us to celebrate the women who have made our lives better, the mothers, sisters, daughters, partners, co-workers and the leaders who inspire us.

I’ve been blessed to enjoy a career of more than 30 years in public service. I know I owe so much to the efforts of generations of women before me, who fought for their very right to vote and hold office. And I count myself lucky today to know so many women of the younger generations who are stepping up to serve their communities in amazing ways.

No one changes the world on their own, so I hope today we can all take a moment to appreciate the hard work of everyone who has championed women’s fundamental right to choose their own paths. And let’s recommit to giving those same opportunities to every person, in every generation to come.
