A message from State Auditor Pat McCarthy: Annual financial report filing deadline extended to July 1, 2020
Jun 18, 2020
Greetings,
Late Wednesday, June 17, legislative leadership surprised us with a second extension of the annual financial report filing deadline.
The new filing deadline is July 1.
This unexpected extension does not, in any way, lessen the accomplishment of the now 85 percent of the 1,800 local governments that have filed their required annual financial reports with our Office. Each of you is coping with the pandemic and the unprecedented effects on your operations and your life. This is a challenging task in ordinary circumstances, and these circumstances are not ordinary.
Annual reports are a cornerstone of financial transparency in Washington, and I believe your communities should be proud of your efforts to file them.
I encourage you all to file as soon as you are able. Our staff are prepared to help you. The About Filing Online page on our website can provide you access to helpful filing resources, including the library of annual online filing videos. For additional assistance, you can reach our annual filing team via the HelpDesk or LGCSFeedback@sao.wa.gov.
Again, thanks to you all for your continued commitment to accountability and your ability to be nimble and responsive during the most challenging of times.
Sincerely,
Pat
