Helping Washington #BeCyberSmart: Our cybersecurity efforts during fiscal year 2026

Technology is critical to providing public services, and audits from the State Auditor’s Office have become essential elements in overall government cybersecurity in the Evergreen state. Our Office developed a short overview of our work in cybersecurity in fiscal year 2026. 

The report, “Helping Washington #BeCyberSmart: Audit results and insights, FY 2026,” details trends identified by our auditors, takeaways that can help any government improve its cybersecurity stance, and our work by the numbers. For example, our penetration testing identified 396 vulnerabilities in IT systems. When our auditors flag such issues for Washington governments, we give them a chance to remediate the vulnerability before it becomes exposed to cyberattackers. 

Our Office’s cybersecurity work began in 2013, and these offerings continue to feature specialized services like ransomware resiliency audits, critical infrastructure assessments, cybersecurity checkups and more.
